The Rhodesian Bush War was fought by mercenaries from all over the world who joined the Rhodesian Security Forces in southern Africa against the ZANLA and ZIPRA rebels. Violence escalated until 1979, when a political settlement brought an end to the war and decades of white minority rule.

SituationRhodesian Security Forces are conducting cross-border operations into Mozambique and Zambia to fight the ZANLA and ZIPRA civilian insurgents who have been trained by Soviet and Chinese advisers and are armed with Kalashnikovs and WW2 weapons. On the other side, the forces of Rhodesia have been well trained in counterinsurgency and are armed with modern battle rifles such as SLRs, FALs, M16s, and heavy machine guns. Among their ranks are about 1,500 foreigners from Australia, Canada, Great Britain, Hong Kong, Ireland, New Zealand, Portugal, South Africa, the United States, and elsewhere, including some with Vietnam-War experience.
ObjectiveThis is a scored event. Each faction has the potential to earn up to 750 points by successfully completing the missions described below. The winner will be announced after endex during the debriefing at the MAC.
The following two missions are active throughout the entire operation (11:00—15:00): Officer CaptureThis applies to you if you are the Commanding Officer (CO) or Executive Officer (XO) of a faction. During your first 3 minutes of sit time after getting hit, you may be captured and moved by any live enemy player. First, the enemy must make physical contact with you and may then “drag” you anywhere around the airsoft field. If directed by your captor, you must move with them at a reasonable walking pace. If the physical contact is broken, you must restart your wristwatch timer and sit still because, after 3 minutes of continuous broken contact, you will be free from captivity. Your captor may reset the 3 minutes repeatedly by simply touching you over and over again before your 3 minutes run out. If your enemy fails to do this, then you are free to move to respawn without threat of any other player stopping you, and you may not be captured again for the remainder of the day. When the enemy first makes physical contact to capture you, please radio for Omego so that he can start a 30-minute timer; after which, you will be free from captivity regardless of where the enemy has moved you. Your enemy will attempt to move you to their outpost (MAC for Rhodesian Security Forces or Gully Base for ZANLA/ZIPRA) so that they can earn points for your capture. The points are awarded as soon as you are within the solid building walls of the outpost with 60 points awarded for the capture of the CO and 30 points awarded for the capture of the XO. Please radio Omego immediately if this happens. Then, you are immediately free to go respawn yourself at your self-respawn pole with a friend at a respawn tree. Also, you may not be captured again for the remainder of the day.Likewise, your faction may earn points by capturing the enemy CO and/or XO using these same rules. Medical Supply RecoveryThroughout the day, send out units to search all of the field locations within the playing area that have names on the map. You are looking for decent-sized medical supply containers to be brought to your outpost (MAC for Rhodesian Security Forces or Gully Base for ZANLA/ZIPRA). You must drop these containers if you’re hit while carrying them because they are larger than a basketball, and your enemy may steal them from you. You may hide these containers throughout the day, but be sure to place them within the solid building walls of your outpost by 15:00 (endex) because that’s when they’ll be scored for 30 points each if your faction’s flag is still raised on your outpost at that time.Likewise, you should try to find and steal any medical supply containers that your enemy has acquired, and try to have your flag flying on their outpost at endex. There’s a set of flags at each outpost, and you may not steal/hide your enemy’s flag. Each medical supply container that’s used during this game will be clearly marked with multiple red crosses.
The following missions have set times or time frames when they'll take place:
Training Camps (11:00—12:30)Rhodesian Security Forces will start at their outpost (MAC) and must move to destroy four ZANLA/ZIPRA training camps located at Sofa Chair, Bravo Base, Delta Base, and Echo Base which are marked with red explosions on the map below. These sites may be destroyed in any order that you choose. To destroy a training camp, you must be at least 21 years of age and have a lighter to light the fuse at the bottom of the white PVC pipe. Then, you must throw the Zimbabwean flag on the ground, wait for the bottle to explode, and radio to Omego on channel 1 with the name of the location that you just destroyed. Rhodesian Security Forces will earn 1 point for each minute on each location that is left over after the site has been destroyed up to 90 minutes which is the total phase time. For example, if Rhodesia destroys Delta Base at 20 minutes into the game, they will receive 70 points. On the other side, ZANLA/ZIPRA will start at their self-respawn location (Wolves' Den) and must race to set up defensive positions at any of their training camps that they wish to defend. They will earn 1 point for each minute on each location that remains secure up to 90 minutes per location.
Warlord's Propaganda (12:45—13:30)The ZANLA/ZIPRA Warlord will enter the game from the ZANLA/ZIPRA outpost (Gully Base). He has until 13:30 to visit Victoria Falls (SGC) to the west of Rhodesia for propaganda purposes. He is invincible to hits and will move with the dominant live player in the vicinity, either friend of foe, at a reasonable pace. If ZANLA/ZIPRA is able to escort the Warlord to SGC before 13:30, they will earn 30 points. After reaching SGC, if they still have time and can get him back to their outpost before 13:30, they will earn an additional 30 points for a total of 60 points. However, if before 13:30, the Rhodesian Security Forces can intercept the Warlord and escort him to their outpost (MAC Building) where he will be immediately executed for war crimes, they will earn 60 points.During this phase, the Warlord may be hidden, but he may not be taken out of bounds. Also, the Warlord will periodically announce his whereabouts to everyone over the field public-address system. He will be wearing an olive beret, black long-sleeve shirt, and olive vest.
Ian Smith's Propaganda (13:45—14:30)The Prime Minister of Rhodesia, Ian Douglas Smith, will enter the game from the Rhodesian outpost (MAC Building). He has until 14:30 to visit Victoria Falls (SGC) to the west of Rhodesia for propaganda purposes. He is invincible to hits and will move with the dominant live player in the vicinity, either friend of foe, at a reasonable pace. If Rhodesia is able to escort the Mr. Smith to SGC before 14:30, they will earn 30 points. After reaching SGC, if they still have time and can get him back to their outpost before 14:30, they will earn an additional 30 points for a total of 60 points. However, if before 14:30, ZANLA/ZIPRA can intercept Mr. Smith and escort him to their outpost (Gully Base) where he will be immediately executed for war crimes, they will earn 60 points.During this phase, Mr. Smith may be hidden, but he may not be taken out of bounds. Also, Mr. Smith will periodically announce his whereabouts to everyone over the field public-address system. He will be wearing a black suit and tie.
